Hello girls!

I would like to know if the revised "1945-type" female Ike jacket was worn by WACs or only by nurses???
I saw that WAC headquarters withheld approval of this revised jacket but ANC approved it in early 45. Could you tell me more about it please?
Many thanks in advance,
enitnelav.

The jacket was also authorized for WAC personnel in April 1945.

Here is a picture from the website of the US Army Women's Museum - Fort Lee, Virginia - showing the jacket being worn by an enlisted WAC member

Greetings,
Katy

Sorry to disturb you Katy, but it is the 1st model, no?
I'm talking about the 2nd model, the "revised version" with pockets.
Could you confirm me please that the "revised version" were worn by WACs ?
Many thanks in advance!!!

Oh, now I understand, you mean the revised version of the field jacket with the two simulated breast pockets. With all the many revisions one can get easily confused - ha ha.

There is not really much information available about this specific jacket model. Risch writes in her book (published in October 1945) that a field jacket version with simulated breast pockets was under consideration, but not yet approved by WAC headquarters.

Since actual samples of the jacket exist (as shown in Women for Victory, Volume 1) the model must have been finally authorized (probably sometime in late 1945). ANC and WAC articles were usually coordinated and it is not very probable that the WAC stuck with the old version and only the ANC got the new one with better fitting qualities. Thus, I guess the jacket model was most likely approved for both female organizations. Anything else would not make much sense.
