1944 WAC Enlistment Procedures Manual, Part 3
.

My columns for August II, September and October contain the front matter, contents and first five sections of the actual Army Service Forces Manual M-208, Procedures for Enlistment in the Women’s Army Corps, AUS, issued by the Headquarters of Army Service Forces on October 2, 1944.

The first section presented here is Section 4, Types of Assignment. This section covers change of assignment; oversea assignment; types of assignment; general assignment; branch assignment to the Army Air Forces (AAF), Army Ground Forces (AGF) or Army Service Forces (ASF); station and job assignment; medical department physical therapists and medical department technicians.

The second section presented here is Section 5, Completion and Disposition of Records. This section covers the preparation and disposition of the Enlistment Record (War Department Adjutant General Office Form Number 721); preparation and disposition of the Qualification Certificate for each accepted candidate; preparation and disposition of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Fingerprint Card; preparation and disposition of the Soldier’s Individual Pay Record (War Department Adjutant General Office Form Number 28); preparation and disposition of the Service Record (War Department Adjutant General Office Form Number 724 or Form 24) and miscellaneous governance of forms incidental to the qualifying enlistment procedure (see Section III of my September 2009 column) as part of the applicant’s temporary file.

The rest of this vintage wartime manual will be presented in future columns.
